All applications to Coonamble, Gulargambone & Quambone Rentafarmhouse are on-line. You will need to download the application form, complete it and forward it with a photo to rentafarmhouse2829@hotmail.com. Applications for Round 1 closed on 31 October 2011.
Any applications submitted after this date may be saved for future rounds. You may withdraw your application at any time - just let us know.
Our community volunteers assess all applications and compile a shortlist. When a farmhouse becomes available, those on the shortlist will be invited to submit more information and visit the Coonamble Shire to meet the farmers and view the houses. We recommend that you also visit schools, childcare and other services while you're in town. Our volunteers will meet with you to answer any questions you might have. The farmers will have the final say about who they invite to take up their farmhouse rental. It is up to each family to decide whether they take up the offer.
In most cases we are looking for families with children, although if you have skills in areas where we have gaps we'd also be interested in hearing from you. We're hoping that you will share your skills with our communities through both paid work and community involvement. You are required to maintain the house and garden. The extent of any renovation is up to you, with the owner's permission of course. Who pays for what is a matter of negotiation.
In return, you get a farmhouse for $1 per week for up to 3 years (under agreement) and a warm welcome to our area. Our local volunteers will help to introduce you to potential opportunities for work, sport, culture, charity, or other opportunities to suit your interests.
Some farmers are looking for casual or full-time workers on their properties. Please advise if you have the skills and experience and are looking for such a position.
Overall, we are looking for families who will join in and make the most of their time in our area. We do have spells of very hot weather, drought or floods from time to time, flies (and other pests). This is the bush after all. But there is plenty to do and lots of benefits for those willing to give our district and the country lifestyle a go.
All the best,
Coonamble Rentafarmhouse Team
